Pair Neoclassical Swedish Cobalt Blue Glass Ormolu Mounted Vases with Chains

Description

A Very Fine Pair of Mid 1800's Swedish Neoclassical/Louis XVI Style Cobalt Blue Glass Ormolu Mounted Vases with Hanging Ormolu Chains. Each vase consists of cobalt blue glass bodies of baluster form, tapering towards the base. The glass has a smooth surface with a reflective finish. The ormolu mounts at the top feature a flared rim with a beaded border. Below the rim, a draped ormolu swag encircles the upper portion of each vase, secured by four ormolu loops. Hanging from these loops are four ormolu chains composed of interlocking oval links, extending downward along the body. The vases are supported by ormolu pedestals with a rounded stem that transitions into a circular base, adorned with a beaded and rope-twist border. The pedestals rest on stepped, square ormolu plinths with chamfered corners. Sweden, Circa: First half of the 1800's
