A Pair of 19th Century Signed Baccarat White Opalescent Crystal Vases with Gilt Snakes and enameled painted Insects. Each vase is designed in the form of hollowed tree trunks with a sinuous gilt opaline crystal snake coiling around the base and a delicately enameled insect clinging to the upper rim. The glass exhibits Baccarat’s signature opalescence, with a soft milky translucency. The form is enriched with finely molded botanical details, depicting etched reeds and leaves rising along the columnar structure. The organic modeling of the crystal creates a naturalistic effect, accentuating the illusion of a woodland scene. The gilt opaline crystal snakes are rendered with remarkable precision, their scales individually detailed, and their heads raised with mouths slightly open, poised in anticipation.
