A beautiful 19th C Gilt Bronze & Meissen Porcelain Mounted Cage Form Chandelier w/ A Parrot This chandelier is composed in a vertical cage form constructed from gilt bronze branches arranged in a rounded framework that supports five candle-form light holders. The branches rise from a central lower platform and extend upward toward a shaped corona at the top. Each branch is cast with leaf clusters arranged along the arms, forming a continuous pattern throughout the structure. The five lights are set evenly around the lower register, each supported by a bronze bobeche cast with layered leaves and fitted with cylindrical candle sleeves. The cage rises toward a pierced crown-shaped upper mount, which functions as the visual anchor for the ascending branches. At the center of the chandelier sits a porcelain figure of a parrot modeled with outstretched wings, positioned above a small turned support that integrates the porcelain element into the bronze frame. The porcelain is decorated in polychrome glazes, including yellow, green, blue, and red pigments. Surrounding the parrot, the bronze branches twist and interlace, forming a structural enclosure around the central figure.
