Description

A Large and Extremely Unusual Art Deco/ Hollywood Regency Italian Murano Crystal Multi Colored Gilt Bronze Hinged Box. The colored crystal appears as broad internal bands with curved transitions, visible through the transparent exterior walls. The lid mirrors the body in form and proportions, with a recessed interior panel shaped by the layered glass. All edges are cleanly cut and polished, with sharply defined corners and flat planes. A gilt bronze mount frames the rim of the box and the lid, continuing seamlessly around the perimeter and incorporating the rear hinge. Produced in Italy using layered and encased crystal techniques associated with Murano workshops, the box demonstrates controlled handling of multiple colored glass elements within a single casting. The clarity of the clear crystal, the saturation of the cranberry and cobalt tones, and the even thickness of the walls indicate careful production and finishing.
