A Magnificent Pair of 19 Century Ormolu & Chinese Blue Poudré Porcelain Candelabra, Attributed to Caldwell. Each candelabrum consists of a cylindrical porcelain vase with a slightly flared neck and a rounded base. The porcelain surface has a consistent blue poudré glaze with a subtle mottled texture. The vases are mounted on gilt bronze bases with scrolling feet and an openwork structure. Two gilt bronze candle arms extend symmetrically from the upper section of each vase, curving outward and terminating in black porcelain bobeches with gilt rims. The arms are attached to the vases with gilt bronze mounts that include a central band encircling the body, secured by a ribbon-tied laurel garland. Additional gilt bronze mounts in the form of acanthus leaves and satyr masks are affixed at the sides. The covers of the vases feature gilt bronze mounts with scrolling edges and are topped with flame-form finials. The candelabra are designed for use with candles, with cylindrical sockets integrated into the bobeches. The bases have a stepped structure with a combination of curved and angular elements, providing stability. The gilt bronze surfaces have a polished finish, contrasting with the matte texture of the blue poudré porcelain. New York, Circa: 1890
