A Neoclassical Italian Grand Tour Patinated Bronze Bust of Apollo Belvedere, Circa 1860 The bust is cast as a half length figure of Apollo, shown with the head turned to his right and the gaze directed outward. The youthful face is modeled with straight nose, defined lips, and almond shaped eyes set beneath arched brows. The hair is arranged in thick curling locks that frame the forehead and fall behind the ears, gathered at the back with layered strands. A draped mantle crosses the left shoulder and wraps diagonally across the chest, secured at the shoulder by a circular rosette brooch cast in relief. The torso is truncated at mid chest and rises from a waisted circular socle set on a square base. The surface bears a deep brown patina with warm tonal variation, and the transitions between flesh, hair, and drapery are sharply defined. The underside reveals a hollow cast interior consistent with traditional bronze casting methods.
