Description

A 19th Century Sevres Porcelain Turquoise Blue Ground Gilt Garniture Set w/ Figural Scenes. A three-piece garniture set comprising a mantel clock and a pair of matching candlesticks. The clock features a domed top with a bisque porcelain figure of a seated putto holding a triangle. The dome is finished with a scale-patterned turquoise blue porcelain surface, segmented by gilt bronze bands. Four flame finials, mounted on gilt bronze-accented porcelain pedestals, surround the dome. The clock face has a circular white enamel dial with Roman numerals, black hands, and a central floral motif, encased in a gilt bronze bezel with beaded detailing. Below the dial, a hand-painted porcelain plaque is set within a gilt bronze frame. The rectangular body is flanked by two fluted columns with applied gilt bronze mounts, terminating in scrolling supports at the base. The sides have further applied gilt bronze ornamentation. The reverse of the clock is decorated with additional hand-painted reserves and gilt accents, allowing for placement in the center of a room. Each candlestick has a flared circular foot with a raised edge, supporting a tapering porcelain stem. The stems are fluted and encased in applied gilt bronze mounts. An oval reserve with a painted floral motif is positioned at the widest point of each stem. The top section consists of a gilt bronze candle cup with a slightly flared rim. The bases are finished in turquoise blue porcelain with additional gilt detailing. The underside of one piece bears a blue interlaced “L” mark.
