A large and fantastic Berlin KPM Porcelain Jeweled Circular Plaque Painted with a Beauty, Signed Wagner The circular porcelain plaque centers on a bust-length portrait of a young woman positioned within a wide jeweled border. Her figure is depicted with a ruffled white bonnet trimmed with painted pink and yellow roses, each petal and leaf defined through layered enamel. The bonnet extends outward in soft folds, framing her face and resting against a landscape background showing trees and a distant waterway. A dark ribbon ties around her neck, with its ends painted to follow the curvature of her shoulder. Her garment combines a light chemise with a pink outer layer decorated with small painted floral sprigs, each rendered along the sleeve and upper arm. The surface shows smooth transitions across the complexion, fabric, and background, unified within the circular reserve. Surrounding the portrait, the border consists of raised 24k gold enamel arranged in alternating bands. Oval cartouches containing marbled green enamel elements are framed with raised gold beads, placed between areas of lattice-patterned gold and raised foliate sprays. The goldwork is structured in layers, forming a continuous decorative band that moves around the circumference of the plaque. Small raised dots and floral clusters occupy the spaces between the larger motifs, and the outer edge is completed with a narrow gold rim following the plaque’s contour.
