Important Meissen Porcelain Groups of Caparisoned Elephants and Soldiers

Description

An important pair of Meissen Porcelain Groups depicting "Alexander The Great Concurring India". Modeled with Alexander the great's three warriors/soldiers riding on caparisoned elephants and an attendant riding an elephant, the warriors wearing helmets and cuirass fighting with spear, sword, and shield, the third hurling rocks in a shaped rectangular section castle above an elaborate caparison, on a breakfront-shaped base molded with pink rope-twist border. Meissen groups of this sort are very rare and finding an original pair like this is even rarer!!!! Blue crossed swords Underglaze Meissen Mark.
