A Pair of 19th-Century Meissen Porcelain Covered Potpourri, with Pictorial Landscape Scenes, Lion's Paw Feet, and Figural Maiden Handles. Each urn-shaped vessel rests on three gracefully curved lion’s paw feet adorned with acanthus leaves and gilded accents. The body of each vase is hand-painted with an intricate landscape scene set in a verdant countryside with rolling hills, lush trees, and distant mountains beneath a soft, cloud-streaked sky. The foreground features elegantly dressed figures in 18th-century attire engaged in leisurely pursuits. On one vase, a gentleman in a tricorn hat and richly colored coat is depicted on horseback, conversing with a lady in a flowing gown, while another couple walks nearby. The companion vase presents a similar pastoral setting, with figures strolling and gesturing amidst the scenic backdrop. The compositions are framed by delicately rendered foliage and architectural elements, lending depth and perspective to the idyllic vignettes. Each reserve is enclosed within finely painted gilt borders that enhance the overall elegance of the design. The vases are further distinguished by their figural handles, modeled as busts of maidens wearing lilac drapery and floral garlands in their hair.
