A fabulous center table/gueridon with a carved wooden roman figure of a man dressed in Italian 18th century attire with a gorgeous Pietra Dura marble top. Fabulously hand carved, this table is truly a masterpiece. The figure holding the top is made with a great deal of detail and precision. From the legs to the face, this figure is truly "life-like" in appearance. He is seen wearing traditional 18th century roman attire, which is painted with beautiful patterns in vibrant yellows, blues and white with some paint loss. The top of the table is just as exceptional, with a glorious array of hand carved red, green, grey, black, yellow, and white marbles in a geometric array. Italy, circa 1860.
