Pair of Venetian Art Deco Hand Etched Mirrors A pair of mirrors of elongated arched form, each composed with a rectangular mirrored plate surmounted by a rounded crest panel. The mirrored surfaces are hand etched and engraved with symmetrical ornament executed in a restrained silvered palette. Each border is decorated with repeated floral rosettes, stylized foliate sprays, and vertical leaf motifs extending along the sides and following the curve of the arch. A beaded inner border frames the reflective field, accented by a narrow gilt toned edge surrounding the mirror plate. The upper panels are engraved with classical female figures enclosed within laurel wreaths and scrolling foliage. One figure is shown standing in draped dress holding a staff or torch, while the companion figure raises a floral stem or torch in an animated pose. Additional decoration includes ribbon tied foliage, scrolling tendrils, and rosette ornament engraved across the crest panels and perimeter. These mirrors are executed in the Venetian tradition of hand etched decorative glass, incorporating engraved ornament directly into the mirrored surface. The figures appear as classical allegorical maidens, rendered with linear engraving and soft tonal shading. The reverse retains fitted backing panels and hanging wires, preserving their intended wall mounted function. Mirrors of this type reflect the continued production of Venetian decorative glass within the Art Deco period, where classical ornament was combined with simplified geometry and elongated proportions. Their arched silhouette, etched floral borders, and restrained monochrome decoration align with interiors associated with the Hollywood Regency taste, which favored mirrored surfaces and refined ornamental detailing.
